Key Ministry Values
We believe that anointed teaching is the primary catalyst for transformation in the lives of individuals and the church.
(Hebrews 4:12; II Timothy 3:16; Acts 2:37; Acts 20:32; Acts 2:42)
We believe in the priority of corporate worship, that corporate worship provides believers the opportunity to express their dependence upon and adoration of God. Corporate Worship also gives God the opportunity to minister to believers and manifest Himself to unbelievers. We believe that our whole lives should be lived as an expression of worship.
(Hebrews 13:15; Psalm 150:6; Psalm 29:2; Matthew 5:16; 1Corinthians 14:24-25; Romans 12:1; Hebrews 10:25; John 10:9)
We believe in the necessity of fervent prayer as the driving force behind the work of the church and the enablement of the believer.
(1 Thessalonians 1:17; Matthew 26:41; Luke 18:1, Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 1:10; II Corinthians 10:4; James 4:2b; Daniel 9:4-19; Daniel 10)
We believe that lost people matter to God and therefore ought to matter to the church. Lost people both here in Thunder Bay and around the world.
(Luke 5:31-32; Luke 15: The lost sheep, the lost coin, the lost son...; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; II Peter 3:9; Matthew 23:13)
We believe that the Gospel is wholistic involving the redemption of individual lives and our planet as a whole. Hence our mission is to impact both individuals with the transforming love of Christ and to work at making our city and world right, in anticipation of when Christ will return to fully restore our world. This includes being concerned about issues of social justice and the environment.
(Matthew 5:16; Mark 12:30-31; Matthew 28:19-20; Matthew 4:23; Luke 6:16; Romans 8:19-25; Matthew 24:14; Revelation 21:1-4).
We believe that the church should be contextually relevant while remaining doctrinally pure.
(II Timothy 4:2-4; I Corinthians 9:22; Acts 17:16-28; Matthew 22:18-22; Matthew 24:32-34; II Timothy 3:16-17)
We believe that Christ followers should manifest authenticity and yearn for continuous growth.
(Acts 4-5; Ephesians 4:25; Matthew 26:36-39; Romans 8:29; II Timothy 2:15ff)
We believe that the church should operate as a unified community of servants stewarding their spiritual gifts, talents and resources.
(John 17:23; Mark 8:34; Mark 9:35; Mark 10:43-45: John 13:12-15; Romans 12:3-8; I Corinthians 12:1-11; I Corinthians 14:1; Ephesians 4:7-15; 1 Corinthians 4:2; Luke 6:38; 2 Corinthians 8:7; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8)
We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life.
(I John 4:7-21; Mark 12:30-31; John 13:34-35; I Corinthians 13:1-8; Romans 5:5; I Thessalonians 1:3 & 2:8)
We believe that the experience of healthy community with accountability is critical for the facilitation of life change. We see this happening primarily through participation in mid-sized community, life groups, spiritual friendships and mentoring relationships.
(Luke 6:13; Matthew 17:1; Acts 2:46; Acts 20:20; Romans 16:3-5)
We believe excellence honours God and inspires people.
(II Corinthians 8:7; Colossians 3:23; I Corinthians 10:31; Ecclesiastes 9:10)
We believe that churches should be led by those with leadership gifts.
(Romans 12:8; Ephesians 4:11-12)
We believe that the surrendered Spirit filled life or full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer and the basis for becoming “fully alive in Christ.”
(I Kings 11:4; Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 5:18; Luke 9:23-25; John 10:10)
